When I first installed Vista, the first thing I checked out was Windows Media Player. And damn, I liked it. I felt instantly at home. SO much better than Windows Media Player 10. I sort of always got confused with the WMP10 layout. Couldn’t find things, it didn’t really feel intuitive. iTunes was in my opinion much easier to use, cleaner, and more effective for my needs. Still, WMP11 was only available in Vista, and as Vista is not my main OS (yet ;-) ) I couldn’t use WMP11 as often as I wanted to.

That has changed, now that Microsoft released a public beta of Windows Media Player 11 for XP. It’s clean, it’s intuitive, and it simply works. And good at that too!

The library view in WMP11 is exactly what I’m looking for. Clean and effective. Lot’s of information without opening properties and visually very attractive. I also checked out if there was native RSS/Podcasting support. To my delight, no ;-) That’s what you should use Doppler for after all…
