I’ve been using my RSS reader add-on for my Notes mail file for a few days now, and I’m happy. However, in order to make it a smooth add-on, I could use some user feedback. So I’m looking for a few people (maximum 10, I’m not talking a full-blown beta product release here) who are willing to test this thing out for me.

A few requirements:

  1. You need to run Notes 7.0 (there’s Java 1.4 stuff in there)
  2. You must feel comfortable to add a few design elements to your Notes mail file (and have appropriate access rights of course to do so)
  3. You must feel comfortable to modify an existing outline design element in your mail file (if you want to RSS Feed to show up higher up in the outline instead of in the ‘Views’ sections)
  4. You do actually use the add-on. This means that I’m looking for people who really want to use it

There are 2 modes of execution with the add-on.

  • Automatic: which requires to schedule an agent to run every 5 minutes (no, it will not go out and fetch all the feeds every 5 minutes, still the agent needs to be running at short intervals to check if a feeds wants a refresh based upon an interval setting in the feed subscription)
  • Manual: you press a button, the agent starts running and will retrieve the feeds for you

I’m very much looking for feedback regarding the UI handling. Does it feel comfortable the way I did it? Does it make sense? etc. etc.

Interested? Just write a reply to this post and I’ll get in touch with you.
